Last Saturday, like the last 3 years, I was at the start as a mountain biker at the RedBull Dolomitenmann with my team “Bioteaque”. A team of mountain runners, paragliders, mountain bikers and kayakers conquer the Lienz Dolomites in a four-way battle. For me, this race has been a classic since 2021 and every year I look forward to racing over 30km and 1600m.
Our runner laid the foundation for our success with a solid time, followed by the paraglider and was able to gain important minutes and hand it over to me in the top 20. I tackled the first 500hm, the performance on the Garmin was good and I was able to set up a really good pace. After a short, very technical downhill, 1000hm in a row followed.
My supervisors gave me a new drinking bottle to perfectly coordinate my nutrition for the competition. I quickly found a good rhythm and set a personal record. After 1:29 I reached the highest point, covered 1500m and then the downhill over the ski slope, I also have a new setup here this year, with a lowerable seat post it was easier for me to “rush down” the very steep downhill ski route than in previous years before.
With a final technical trail and a few km to hand over to the kayak driver, I got everything out of my legs and handed over to the paddler after 1:59 hours. He gave it his all again and despite a small mistake, he crossed the finish line in the city center of Lienz in 19th place.
